Observation Essay Topics - How Observation Can Help Teachers

Observation Essay Topics - How Observation Can Help TeachersMany students put off writing observation essays because they're unsure about the research and writing skills that will be required. The truth is, observation essays should be taught in high school. By teaching it early, students are able to focus on more complex writing assignments that demand more sophisticated skills. What are some observation essay topics? One of the best is about a student who works with autism. The student and his or her family feel their son has a 'mental disability' but their family believes that the child has a gift. Students can use the story of this student to help them determine whether or not a gifted child may be autistic. To better understand autism research, students should write about three subjects. The first is the debate between the specialists about how to classify autism. This second topic is the causes of autism and what causes it.A third topic is biologic theories. The theory states tha t autism and bipolar disorder are genetic disorders that are difficult to treat. Some families have reported an increased risk for this condition if the child has a parent who has been diagnosed with either of these conditions. One of the best observational essays, students can write is one about a student who works hard and plays hard. While this essay sounds simple, many students have a hard time seeing the difference between hard work and unfair playing. Instead of finding a writerly way to explain this difference, students should look for examples from actual students instead. For example, they can read a student's work and see how that student does things differently than other students do. They might also look at the way a student carries herself when she works. With this information, they can try to see if the student is 'doing it her way' or whether she is simply playing hard.In high school, students should also write a brief description of a daily routine that isn't all that different from other kids'. They might take pictures of their routines or they might describe how they sleep at night or what it is like when they get up in the morning. Reading about what these students do is an excellent way to gain a real sense of what a typical life would be like for someone who lives with autism. The point of these observations is to make students realize that they should be looking at the different components of their life, including their 'personal experiences,' rather than just seeing a person. It's important for students to realize that each of us is unique and that each person's experiences are unique as well. By giving a description of this student's life, students will have an idea of how life might be different for someone with autism. They will also see how it could impact their own lives.

The Surface Rules Two Ways to Avoid Household Clutter

The Surface Rules Two Ways to Avoid Household Clutter Clutter accumulates quickly. Between our desks and coffee tables and countertops and dressers and credenzas and benches and sideboards and end tables and media consoles, our homes are outfitted with boundless surface area ripe for the accrual of stuff. We pay it no mind until, one day, the detritus has metastasized to cover every flat surface. Stacks of unread magazines and unwanted junk mail. Piles of unfinished projects and unattended toys. Hoards of untidy appliances and unremarkable junk. It didnt happen overnight, but the chaos can be addressed relatively expediently. Personally, Rebecca and I have a couple rules in our household that help us avoid the mess. Fewer surfaces. Whether you live in a tiny apartment or a McMansion, having fewer flat surfaces means fewer places for the rubbish to collect. Ergo, if a piece of furniture has a flat top, Bex and I refuse to bring it into our space unless its function is critical. Sure, we have a desk, a dresser, and a table in our home, but even those items remain clutterfree when not in useâ€"hence the next rule. Clear surfaces. Even with the appropriate amount of surface area, clutter will still find its way to the, ahem, surface. Its as if our level surfaces are a magnet for miscellanea, so Bex and I have one more rule in our house: unless a possession is used every day, it doesnt belong on a flat surfaceâ€"it must find a new home in a drawer or a closet or, better yet, the donation bin. Thus, our desk remains empty, and our kitchen counters contain only a hot-water heater and a coffee grinder, while our blender, food processor, and Sodastream dwell inside their respective cabinets. Moreover, the kitchen items we havent used in 90 days have moved out of the house altogether. Our one exception to the clear surfaces rule is art. We own a handful of well-curated objectsâ€"a pair of ceramics vases, a water-drop-shaped glass jug, a wooden blackbird statuetteâ€"that harmonize with our uncluttered surfaces in a way the debris of everyday life cannot. Oh, and books! We frequently adorn our clean surfaces with the books were currently reading, just for when we encounter a serendipitous reading situation. Subscribe to The Minimalists via email.

Dental School Admission Personal Statement

I would like to apply for a place at your University, on an advanced placement for international dentists. I graduated from University in India, with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. I came from a background of engineers and was the first in the family to enter the medical profession. Becoming a dentist was an ambition I had followed for many years, since I was very young, and every day I know I made the right decision to pursue the dream. I came to the United States two years ago in order to further my education and my career. Once arriving here I completed my National Board Dental Examination, both part one and part two. I undertook this exam primarily to increase my chance to gain admission into the advanced standing DDS programme for international dentists. I have also worked as a dental assistant for eight months in the U.S. and, while here, I have completed several training courses. I have obtained my x-ray certification and CPR, and completed three observerships, each under a different U.S. dentist. Additionally, I have attained my certification in coronal polishing and also in infection control. I have also completed a hands on workshop on veneers at UCSF. I have three years of experience working in a private dentistry practice in India. One of my professors in the prosthetic department offered me the opportunity to work at his clinic in the evening OPD. I was thrilled with the offer and accepted it immediately. My time at this clinic gave me valuable experience in prosthetics and fuelled my enthusiasm to work in this field. I have also spent time working in a charitable hospital. This experience opened my eyes to the demand for dentists who are prepared to work with patients from poor communities. The people I met there had many dental problems but, as they had very little money, their options for getting treatment were limited. I gained a great deal of knowledge and awareness from working at the hospital, and it ignited my desire to serve people from underprivileged backgrounds. While studying for my BDS, an incident occurred which encouraged me even further in my dentistry ambitions. During my rotatory internship, an ex-patient of mine came from endodontic department and into the oral surgery department, and requested her treatment to be from me and no other dentist. Therefore, I obtained permission from both departments and treated her. For me, this exchange reaffirmed that I have skills both in dentistry and in communication. Being friendly and approachable is a crucial element of effective patient care, and I was flattered that the ex-patient valued and remembered me in this way. I have several goals for the future. Ultimately, I wish to work in a private practice in prosthetic dentistry. I would also welcome the opportunity to teach dentistry to students at university level. Furthermore, my time at the charitable hospital has installed in me a burning desire to work in developing countries, serving people of poor communities. I am conscientious, passionate and one hundred per cent dedicated to my career in dentistry and to providing high levels of patient care. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to work with you at your institution.

The three Greek plays compared in this paper are the famously known Greek tragedies; Oedipus Rex and Antigone by Sophocles and Medea by Euripides that not only have the common genre of tragedy, but share the same motifs; homicide, suicide, and suffering. Homicide is an act when a human permanently harms another leading in death and these plays like to use it quite a bit. In Oedipus Rex, by Sophocles, the main character Oedipus (king of Thebes) realizes he had killed his own father: â€Å"...your father slew his father†¦Ã¢â‚¬ (Oedipus Rex Sophocles 62). I am all whelmed in utter misery!† (Antigone Sophocles 50), Creon’s suffering leads him to leave the palace and his actions show a variety of ways humans cope with tragic events -I would just distract myself. Lastly, in Medea Medea finds her own way of getting revenge of Jason because he cheated on her. Medea not only killed his wife Glauce but as well his children, â€Å"What! That is it? O woman, you have destroyed me!† (Medea Euripides 42), â€Å"Some common sources of trauma include; rape, domestic violence, natural disaster, severe illness or injury, the death of a loved one(everyone in Oedipus Rex, Antigone, and Medea), and witnessing an act of violence† (Trauma Adams). All these traumatic events leave a person mentally scarred resulting to some morbid choices. Suicide is when someone takes their life. Foundations of a Bible-based Christ-centered Worldview - Samples

Question: Discuss about theFoundations of a Bible-based Christ-centered Worldview. Answer: Description The search for the proper spiritualism is one of the most interesting aspects in the Christianity. God has been portrayed as the omnipotent being in the universe. He possesses all the powers that exist and he is capable of punishing the people who commit wrong deeds. This is why he can be called as the cosmic cop (White 1998). God always stares at the human beings with the extreme anger. It is because he wants to see who breaks the deadlock of ethics first. Then only he can punish those beings. God is always compassionate and He treats in a good manner who obeys the code of ethics of the God (Geering 2015). God always wants us to commit the good deed of which He can always be proud of, just like the Santa Claus. Analysis This book has focused on the attitude of God towards the human beings. God is the manifestation of perfection, warmth, trust and comfort for the human minds. The human beings have to depend on the attitude of God according to the deeds committed by them. God is generally very much benevolent indeed (Kasper 2012). The God shows either His love or anger according to the extent of their deeds. He will surely bestow love and comfort to the person who has done good works. On the contrary, He will demonstrate His anger for the people who have committed foul things. God is seen as the cosmic cop indeed. Human beings can experience the existence of real God if he really commits good deeds (Kasper 2012). Evaluation This book can be evaluated by saying that the existence of God leaves a huge mark on the work that the human beings on the earth (White 1998) God always keeps a secret but strict watch on the factors that the human beings take up. He is always ready with His deadly weapons to punish that person (Stump 2012). The people who do who good things will always get the best outcomes from God. God is also seen as the person who is always very angry and the people have to surrender to the powers of God in the ultimate fear. However, this tyrannical self is not the self of God as depicted in Christianity. God is the benevolent entity who adopts the human beings to His family when He understands the persons good capacities (Stump 2012). Personal response I will describe about the feelings I had regarding the existence of God. I feel that God is very much benevolent and He treats with all human beings in the same way. He thinks us to be a part of His family. He has sent Jesus Christ to convey His messages to the mankind. I believe if I do good things God will lead my way to salvation indeed. I have felt through my various experiences that God is not the ultimate dictator who just barks instructions. Rather, He is the calm persona who does all His judgments very clearly. This is why God leads us to the Heaven. References Geering, L., 2015.Christianity without god. Bridget Williams Books. Kasper, W., 2012.The God of Jesus Christ: New Edition. Bloomsbury Publishing. buy custom Business Cycle essay

buy custom Business Cycle essay This paper objectively analyzes the macroeconomic situation in the U.S.A and how these conditions have an impact on two identified monopolistic companies. The study will also attempt to outline how the companies try to deal with these challenges. The two companies identified are retail companies whose status can be categorized as monopolistic. They are the Starburks and the Wal-Mart, company Inc. Wal-Mart for instance has been identified as the largest retail company engaged in the production of end- user products. It is estimated that two-thirds of the state Gross Domestic products emanate from the retail companies. This means that the value that the retail companies have to the economy of the state cannot be taken for granted. Wal-mart has got a focus of intending to save the resources of its customers, to better their lives through fair trading. (Wal-mart, 2010) This slogan has faded overtime due to the nature of the environment it is operating. They are also in direct touch with their customers assisting them on product use. It however, operates on more than eight thousand locations, in not less than 15 states and carries more than 55 different banners Identified firms The firms identified for this analysis are the Starbucks and Wal-mart. Both international corporations are in different industrial sectors. They may be classified as two monopolistic firms on the basis of several characteristics. First, the facts got from the official websites of the two companies clearly reveal that the two companies do enjoy the same focus especially in the target of their markets. They a similar focus, single-market domination. They normally dominate the market in the regions that they are situated and eventually cause related companies in terms of products to go out of business. In addition, they are said to operate at minimal costs, overtake their industries as well as hiring lowly paid workers. They are said to suffer from diverse opinions from the public. Starbucks for instance has relatively good public relations with te populace as compared to Wal-mart which the public assumes it to hold double standards. However, this may only be a public opinion since they may be lacking the necessary facts to prove the allegations. Analysis Wal-mart Company has been recognized as one of the stable companies in the market. Over the recent period, their sales have been extremely better. This has been attributed to their relatively low prices of goods. There is also a platform of being linked with higher income earners. This trend has changed against and is against its focus. The sales of wal-mart seem to be decreasing as time passes by. The sales during the recent quarter were standing at -12.15%. This has been a drastic decrease compared to the last quarter. The first decrease since the store was made public in 1969 was experienced during the fourth quarter of the previous year. The chief executive and the president of the Wal-mart company said that the U.S sales in the quarter were expected to be challenging. He also proposed that the international business however was expected to grow strong. The sales are expected to go flat when compared to an increase of 3.6% and 4.2 % in the previous quarters simultaneously. The profits of the company are much lower compared to previous fiscal years. Their stock however seems strong and its current sale stands at $ 50.86. 52 week low reported was $ 47.57 while 52 week high $ 55.99 (Stock analysts, 2011). The benefit that the Wal-mart company faces is that it operates on very low labor costs. It has an estimate of over 2.1 million workers. The revenues are approximately 3% of the nations total turnover of the states Gross Domestic Product. The revenue earned in the end of the previous fiscal year was amounting to $ 408 billion. The company pays very minimal wages that to a greater extent calls for government intervention. The help that the government bestows to the people comes from the taxpayers which on the other end is difficultt to get. Provision of services by the government such as health may turn out to be a difficult exercise. The hiring process has improved as compared to other years which were marked by discrimination of both color and sexism. Men are no more preferred over females. Discrimination of African-American has also reduced significantly. (Norman, 2010). On the other hand, Starbucks has a recognizable reputation for being a world class company in production of high quality coffee. They also have an improved customer service schemes. They have faced tougher times in the previous years but enjoy a great deal of improvement in the recent years. The profits of the company are expected to increase over a period of time. The company has more than fifteen thousand stores in more than fifty countries. The current stock price stands at $ 27.15 per share, with the 52 weeks low at $ 12.76 and high at $ 27.93. There is a remarkable revenue increase of 4% over the current fiscal first quarter. Customer services have improved very much in the company. It minimizes the labor costs by employing fewer employees and requests them to work for more hours.( Starbucks, 2010). There is also a significant increase in the stock price. The hiring rate of the company was reported to have increased by almost 200% over the period of the previous fiscal year. The greater profits allow the company to hire more employees and reduce the employees turnover.( Starbucks official site, 2010). Hiring of the employees is normally informed by the profits accrued. Conclusion In conclusion, the two companies though perceived to be similar in their modes of operation are greatly affected by economic condition of the state. The revenues of Wal-mart while that of Starbucks continue to increase going by the current trend. Furthermore, the managers of these international firms have to be updated with the current business environment in order to allow them to make the relevant strategies for their operations. Phenomenon and Behavior Now and in the Future Assignment

Phenomenon and Behavior Now and in the Future - Assignment Example Understanding that society is dynamic, meaning that it does not always remain the same throughout the years is important. This will bring to the realization of people that whatever society determines as normal will someday in the future be deemed as abnormal while whatever is determined as abnormal can change to be very normal in the future. This means that the social norms will change in the society say 25 to 100 years to come. Very many phenomenon and behaviors will change from being currently considered as normal to being considered as abnormal in the future. This will also be the case with the currently considered abnormal phenomenon or behavior turning out to be normal in the future. Therefore, this paper will compare some of the phenomenon or behavior in the present 2015 and in the future 2040 to 2115. I shall deal with the prisons phenomenon, the education phenomenon, tolerating poverty, language use, the behavior of queuing for goods and services and finally privacy. In the first part, I shall handle the normal things turning out to be abnormal in the future. Looking at the current prisons system sends a chill down one’s spine. Imprisonment is a normal phenomenon currently where the state has little or no alternatives to it (Tonry, 2004). Criminal behaviors are tried in the court system. If the convicts are found guilty, they end up in prison. This is where all judicial systems believe the punishment for wrongdoing can be achieved. The main aim is to reform the criminals into becoming good law-abiding citizens. In the future, an alternative might be found far different from the current ones which include house arrest, electronic monitoring among others. The prisons of the future may aim at completely different alternatives of regular imprisonment. Predictions are that innovative prison options for the future will be developed.

Genetically Modified (GM): Pros and Cons

Genetically Modified (GM): Pros and Cons Food is a vital source for the survival of mankind. The current global food crisis has become too significant a problem that we cannot avoid this issue any further. Several solutions are made to salvage the situation like educating the nations on eating habits, population control and providing food and financial aid to poor countries that face hunger and famine. However, enforcing birth control and changing eating habits is possible but difficult to change the mindset of billions of people within the near future, what we need is an immediate response to tackle this exponentially increasing problem. The most efficient solution to solve the global food shortage issue might be the reliance on science and technology, the growth and consumption of genetically-modified (GM) food. Despite many controversies regarding the use of GM food, it could be the best answer to handle this global food shortage. In this is article, the pros and cons of GM food will be evaluated along with reference fro m two developing countries China and Philippines which will describe their use and attitude to GM foods. The creation of GM food can play a rather significant role in solving the problem of food shortage worldwide. GM food are produced quicker and an additional advantage of GM food to food that are grown naturally is with the help of genitical enhancement, certain food are manufactured to grow more nutritiously than when produced naturally, for example, golden rice genetically developed to provide Vitamin A will help reduce Vitamin A deficiency (VAD) commonly contracted in developing countries as a result of malnutrition (Curtis; McCluskey; Wahl, 2004). Another example that shows a plus point to the suppor of GM food is drought-resistant crops. They are created to allow crop yield without being too sensitively affected by erratic climate changes. This means that crops can still be grown and harvested to feed people even when rain doesnt come. Kenya, for example, has been experiencing drought for the fourth consecutive year. In addition to the lack of rain, the unpredictability as to when rain will come causes confusing and inefficient planting and hence, poor harvesting. With the use of genetically enhanced drought-resistant crops, they will not face problems like poor harvest. (Integrated Regional Information Networks, 2009). Furthermore, since GM crops are produced more quickly than naturally grown crops, crop yield will increase significantly which benefits farmers and most importantly, reduce the problem of food shortage. However, there is an argument that contradicts the point in GM crops helping the increase of crop yield. It is asserted by Mexican Research Scientist, Dr. Antonio Serratos (2008) that production of GM food is unpredictable resulting in the evolution of a mutated version of the actual species. The unpredictability also questions the production of GM crops being more efficient than traditonal methods. As refered from the example before regarding the creation of drought-resistant crops, the essence of drought-resistant can also be transfered to weeds. Hence, evolving weeds into drought resistant weeds. This will then result in an increased use of fertilisers or even fertilisers of higher potencies to get rid of the GM weeds which instead do more harm to the ecosystem than by traditional breeding. Therefore, an increased in enhanced weed could also lead to a reduction in crop yield. On the other hand, the following argument faults the unpredictability of genitically enhanced crops. Plant Scientist from the John Innes Centre, Dr. Giles Oldroyd (2008) argue that science, by definition is predictable. When one gene of an organism is transfered into another organism it is done thoroughly and sensitively to ensure accuracy. Furthermore, a case study of conventional growing of crops requiring nitrogen fertilisers. The use of nitrogen fertilisers have many adversed effects such as deaths in Mexico and depleting natural resources (fossil fuels). This natural method of crop growing is doing harm to the environment and debates that the perceived unpredictability of genetically enhanced crops are harmful. Dr. Oldroyd also believes that the use of biotechnology is necessary to prevent issues from food shortage due to the expansion in world population and climate change. My first example of a developing country is the Philippines. It is one of the pioneers in Asia to use GM crops where mainly corn was substituted with GM Insect-protected (Bt) corn which has assisted farmers in controlling invasion of insects on the corn without the use of agricultural pesticides. The following example will explain how the use of GM crops is more convenient and profitable than conventional cropping. Jerry Due is one of more than 50, 000 Filipino farmers in the Philippines that embrace the use of GM corn. Due had less problems dealing with corn borers. Furthermore, he has had an increase of an estimated 20 to 30 percent increase in yield since he started using GM grains two years ago. This also reflected positively on his income, he is now confident in being able to save sufficient money to send his son to school and support his throughout his studies. In addition, Due stated that another advantage to the use of the Insect-protected corn is that they need not burn the residue in their harvest where it is necessary for naturally bred corn, instead they simply leave the residue in the field where it will naturally deompose and become fertilisers. Hence having more time to spend on his family and also reduce negative impacts to the environment. (Monsanto, 2005) However, there were much domestic debate for Philippines to allow GM crops to be grown in the country due to mainly religious reasons. Philippines is mainly a Roman Catholic country, it has encountered fierce disapproval from environmental groups as well as many Catholic bishops when the Philippine government approved growth of GM crops in the country. Mr. Gloria Arroyo, Filipino President state that the Vaticans approach to GM crops is postive and has allowed the country to cultivate them however, the Vatican states otherwise. The Vatican were still in the midst of discussion, studying the implications and ethics of using GM crops (Mantell, 2003). Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales Archbishop of Manila informed President Arroyo to eliminate sale of GM rice products that were imported from the United States as they pose dangers to the peoples health as well as the environment. He stated that â€Å"As a church institution, we have moral obligation to protect the interest of Gods people and their inherent right to safe food and healthy environment† (Rosales cited by Digal, 2007) The government sees the necessity of GM crop being grown in the country which will help its people economically as described that it had to weigh the consequences between the idealogy of faith and desperation over food deficit. My second example of a developing country and its use of GM food isChina, the country with the largest population in the world. With over 1.3 billion people and an expected population of 1.4 billion by late 2010s, this is a massive nation requires an incredibly large supply of food to feed its people (Rosenberg, 2008). The China government is very supportive of food biotechonology because they understand the urgency of the immediate availibility of food and the additional nutrional content that GM food can provide. It has policies of self-sufficiency which resulted in China being the fourth largest producer of GM crops globally. The government also believes that more efficient agricultural production techniques need to be practised and GM crops have proven to show superiority over conventional crops with higher yield, pest resistance and longer shelf life. The people in China has a relatively positive attitude towards the use of biotechnology on food where only 9.3% of respondents in a survey display negative opinions towards the use of biotechnology on food. This could be partly due to positive influences from the countrys government regulation and media coverage . Moreover, the benefits of GM food are considered outweighed to its so-called healths risks and implications. The general benefits which are key factors to developing countries like China are the availibility of food, the nutritional enhancement and last but not least, the economic advantage to the use of food biotechnology. A consumer-attitude analysis was done in China and results show that Chinese consumers are willing to pay an average of 16% appreciation for GM soybean oil and 38% appreciation for GM rice over natural alternatives (Curtis; McCluskey; Wahl, 2004). Another survey was done to show that at least half of the survey respondents have heard of GM food and about half urveyed that were adequately informed about GM food define GM food as safe for consumption. Only about 20% of overall surveyed feel that GM food is considered unsafe (Zhong; Marchant; Ding; Lu, 2002). This shows that the chinese consumers are not ignorant as to what GM food is all about. The reason as to why chinese consumers are willing to pay premium for GM food is that they are willing to experiment new products. They have great trust in the governments judgement on food safety and the price change between GM and conventionally grown food is not a factor big enough to prevent them from buying (Curtis; McCluskey; Wahl, 2004). In conclusion, this article has shown perspectives from two developing countries and their postive attitude towards the use of GM food apart from religious reasons. Most importantly, this essay has evaluated and shown that the use of biotechonology on food as a response to tackle the food crisis faced worldwide has been relatively successful with reference from the two developing countries discussed. Genetically modified crops play a very important role in increasing efficiency in production of food for the world, perceived health risks dangers, for example, mice that were fed with food that underwent biotechnology had severe health damages (Zhong, Marchant, Ding, Lu 2002) need to be cushioned and the embracement of enhanced crops ought to be look upon by the entire world. Black on Black Crime Essay

Today I’m going to talk about How to stop black on black crime. Black on black violence is an enormous problem in the African-American community. Living in a neighborhood that is mostly minority, many may have witnessed a lot of black on black violence. The black on black violence has continued to arise in many communities and continues to be a problem around the world. Black on black violence is ignorant, and many black Americans should be coming together instead of killing one another. African-Americans people should be helping each other in the world. The black on black crimes problem can be solved through non-traditional ways. If we are allowed to illustrate how to present system dominate our lives and the condition that we currently exist. Armed with this knowledge, we will see the problem begin to dissipate. As African American, we â€Å"shout â€Å"when a person commits a violent act against us. We don’t need to display anger and harm against other. African-Americans killing one another, it proves to other races that black people do not know how to act, and that we are truly ignorant in this world. Black on Black crime has been the most insidious killer or black people. It’s not the guns or the drug creating the violence; it is caused by our mentality. We should group ourselves with other who is concerned and willing to sacrifice for the cause of saving our society from imploding. These crimes have always been there, but they are more pronounced because of the black community. African-Americans need to realize that all we have is each other and by killing each other we show that brotherly love does not exist among our own.
